In this article, Stellantis has redesigned its large Ram heavy-duty trucks in an effort to reverse three consecutive years of sales declines for the brand. The new Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and chassis cab trucks come with updated interior and exterior designs, along with a new 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel engine generating 430 horsepower and 1,075 foot-pounds of torque, as per the automaker.
These heavy-duty trucks are set to be available in U.S. dealerships in the first quarter of this year, priced at around $47,560, which is approximately $2,300 more than the current models. This launch follows the delayed introduction of the redesigned smaller Ram 1500 pickup, which was launched last year.
Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who rejoined the automaker in December after retiring in May, expressed optimism about the Ram 1500 rollout, acknowledging the delays and stating that progress is being made daily.
Pickup trucks are vital products for American brands like Ram, which experienced a 19% year-over-year sales decline in 2024, including a 16% decrease in Ram pickup truck sales. This contrasts with competitors like Ford and GM’s Chevrolet, which maintained steady sales for their pickups in 2024.
Kuniskis admitted to the challenges faced by the brand, attributing much of the sales decline to the delayed rollout of the 1500 model. The diesel engine is a significant choice for heavy-duty truck customers who use the vehicles for hauling, towing, and other work-related tasks. Another engine option available is a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 producing 405 horsepower and 429 foot-pounds of torque.
The 2025 Ram Heavy Duty lineup includes Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited models. These trucks are manufactured in Saltillo, Mexico.
